Come January 6 and as many as 25 million mobile phones could be disconnected by the telecom operators. Concerned about the terrorist attacks in the recent past, the department of telecom (DoT) has asked service providers to disconnect handsets that do not have an international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number. 

IMEI is a unique 15 digit code that identifies a mobile. It prevents the use of stolen handsets for making calls and allows lawful interception to prove the use of a particular device.

Washington, Nov 30 (DPA) Microsoft has announced an overhaul of its Internet-based Windows Live communications platform.

 

Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Hotmail in particular have been equipped with a new user interface and added functionality, Microsoft reports.

Google asks, "Do you really want to drunk e-mail?"

So it's 3 a.m. and after numerous beers and toxic cocktails, thoughts turn to that girl that got away or the ex that suddenly seems perfect for you.

If you're made of weaker stuff, you might consider e-mailing said person in a vain attempt at turning things around despite the fact that you don't know where your pants are. But as we know friends don't let friends drunk e-mail. And Google, it seems, wants to be your friend.

Yes, Google Does That Too Print E-mail

Just like Microsoft in the ’80s, ’90s and early ’00s, Google is on a quest to take over the world. And they’re doing pretty damn good. They got the search game on lock, they’re email, despite still being in Beta, is used by everyone we know in the know. Their ad game runs the ‘Net. They have a mobile phone operating system on the horizon and they own YouTube. Granted, all of Google’s products are ways for them to power their advertising, but hey—they’re free.

Now, in attempts to further keep you locked into their world and services, they’ve released their long rumored browser, Chrome. The Firefox crew said they weren’t worried, and we’re sure Microsoft isn’t too bothered…yet. But those aren’t the only people Google is looking to take out the game. Check out a couple lesser-known services the big G offers to compete with their Silicon Valley rivals.

IE8 To Feature 'Porn Mode' Tools? Print E-mail

Microsoft is implementing new privacy tools in Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) that insiders are calling "porn mode."

"Porn mode," which will debut in IE8 Beta 2 this month, consists of three tools, one of which is called InPrivate Browsing and allows you to browse without IE8 saving your browsing and searching history, cookies, form data and passwords. It also automatically clears the browser cache at the end of your session.

Niiiiice.

The other tools are InPrivate Blocking and InPrivate Subscription, which notifies users of third-party content that can track browsing history
