Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle is getting ready to make her first debut as an actress in Hindi film 'Maaee'. The evergreen singer has mesmerized generations with her singing versatility and prowess. 'Maaee' has been written and directed by Mahesh Kodiyal.

The 77-year-old singing diva took the project as a new opportunity. She has no qualms about teaming up with a writer-director who is a newcomer. The story is based in about a mother hailing from urban upper middle class in Mumbai. Her son and his family disapprove staying his mother. Finally his ‘Maaee’ take shelter with her daughter and son-in-law. Padmini Kolhapure will play the role of daughter to Asha Bhosle. The film has a strong social message. It speaks of the responsibility of children to take care of their parents in old age. 'Maaee' is expected to go on floors on April 24, and release tentatively in June 2011.
